Every four years the ”drupa” in Düsseldorf provides the international printing industry with the opportunity to present technologies and solutions and to share know-how. Held between 28th May and 7th June and occupying a total of 18 exhibition halls, the 2024 edition of the world’s leading trade fair for printing technology featured sustainability and digitalisation as its main themes. HEIDELBERG, the industry’s leading enterprise, also focused on these megatrends. HEIDELBERG’s booth in Hall 1, which we equipped with audio, lighting and media technology, presented innovations in the field of industrialised printing production and illustrated the entire workflow: how can production become more efficient and therefore less expensive as well as more sustainable while also increasing profitability? HEIDELBERG addressed these challenges several times a day in product shows that presented the company’s tailor-made products and services.

Our Trade Fair and Event units worked together very closely to realise this demanding trade fair project. On 25th April, a full month before the “drupa” opened its doors, our Trade Fair team started to set up the stand after the trusses and motors had been delivered. N&M has staff based on site working as service partners to Messe Düsseldorf. They had already installed the 350 suspension points that were required so that we could get to work in Hall 1 without delay. The next day we were able to unload and prepare our equipment. While the foundations for the HEIDELBERG printing machines were being cast in the exhibition hall on 27th April, our team laid cables in the floor channels, hung equipment on 4,000 metres of trusses, prepared over 800 lights and installed the technical equipment – preparing a perfect trade fair presence for a stand covering over 4,000 square metres involves a lot of work.

One of our tasks was to create harmonious lighting for HEIDELBERG’s new products – large printing machines – in an area adjacent to the actual booth. Another aspect concerned information on HEIDELBERG’s services presented to trade fair visitors on LED walls and touchscreens. Here our job was to prepare the content and program the applications. We also designed and installed a PA solution that ensured perfect speech intelligibility for the info shows.
