Green Economy: N&M Supports the Creating Climate Wealth Conference in Berlin

Berlin

Workshop dedicated to the development of innovative and viable business models aimed at reducing CO2 emissions. N&M sponsoring for first event held in Germany

Following successful events in Washington, London and Sydney, the first "Creating Climate Wealth Summit" to be held in Germany was dedicated to overcoming market barriers and the development of innovative business models for the introduction of low-emission technologies. The series of conferences was initiated by the vividly named American non-profit organization "Carbon War Room", founded by the well-known entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson in 2009.

The CWR seeks out ideas and concepts that outline profitable ways of reducing greenhouse gases. 160 strategists and hands-on experts from the corporate world as well as from the fields of science, technolgy and politics came together at the Siemens Villa in Berlin in the middle of September to spend two days discussing the development and implementation of concrete measures. Branson's idea is to see the struggle against globally increasing CO2 emissions as an opportunity for new business models and, consequently, as a way of creating new wealth. Half of these emissions could be profitably reduced today using existing technology. The business initiate therefore wants to accelerate the spread of clean technologies.

Working in six groups, participants tackled issues such as green finance and IT, energy efficiency, marine transportation and logistics. The results are due to be published at the beginning of November. The Triad communication agency from Berlin is a strategic partner of the Carbon War Room organization and was responsible for creating, planning and staging the summit in the German capital. The Berlin branch office of Neumann&Müller was entrusted with the task of ensuring that the event passed off without any technical glitches. In its role as sponsor, N&M provided the technical equipment for the conference free of charge.

As Marc Ehrhardt from N&M Berlin commented: "As a service provider and equipment supplier, we are of course aware that the event sector offers a lot of levers for reducing CO2." He is also excited by Branson's initiative because it is not only about lowering emissions but also about developing ideas on how such activities can be used as the basis for successful business. That is why he and his team at N&M in Berlin want to support the Carbon War Room project. Ehrhardt went on to explain that the firm's support for the initiative went hand-in-hand with the numerous internal measures within N&M aimed at saving energy and thus reducing emissions. N&M specialists were also able to contribute their own experience to the workshops as well as bringing home one or two interesting ideas to present to their colleagues.
