Artificial intelligence in industrial production, power computers for connected and automated mobility plus houses that think for themselves: at the "Bosch ConnectedWorld 2020" conference held at the STATION-Berlin venue in the middle of February, the company showed what is already possible today with the "Internet of Things" (IoT) and what solutions will facilitate our everyday lives in the future when we are on the move, at home and at work. This was the seventh time that managers, decision-makers, innovators, developers and IoT enthusiasts had met for the two-day conference accompanied by an exhibition, hackathon and networking party. With 3,500 attendees, 170 speakers on five stages and 80 exhibitors, BCW is the leading international conference on the topics of IoT, connected products and solutions, and the digital transformation.
Since the conferences started, we have been Bosch's and the planning bureau Jazzberry‘s fixed service provider for the planning and implementation of all technical systems, that is to say for Audio, Lighting, Video, Rigging and Power Supply in " STATION-Berlin's" eight halls. During this time, we have also been responsible for the various speaker stages and the large 2,200-seat auditorium. Furthermore, we provided the entire exhibition equipment, such as displays for the presentations of well-known exhibitors. Our lighting tasks involved providing homogeneous lighting in the halls as well as effectful show lighting. Over 600 workstations with corresponding power supply were available for the hackathon – the collaborative platform for software and hardware developers in connection with this year's topic for the "BCX" – as well as for conference participants.
The main stage featured a 90 m², high-resolution LED wall. Our task was to customise content so it could be played on the special format of 25 by 3.5 metres. Bosch decided on uncompressed RAW single image playback for the best possible image quality. The venue itself is a listed building, and the timeframe for implementing the project was extremely tight, which presented a particular challenge in terms of logistics procedures, with 24 trailers of equipment having to be managed for the eight halls. In addition to six FoH crews, 160 technicians were also deployed in various shifts and played a major role in ensuring that an event of this scale was realised without a hitch.
