In the summer of 2018, a music and art festival in the Wilhelmsburg district of Hamburg presented a great challenge to 42 N&M apprentices from eight different locations. Supported by their eight mentors and with advice available throughout from their experienced colleagues, they bore responsibility for managing an entire festival stage on their own.
Around four months of preparation was needed to come up with a bespoke concept tailored to the requirements of the festival. The future event technology professionals, commercial staff, media designers for vision/sound and experts in warehouse logistics handled coordination with the client, other services and the artists, planned the entire set-up, carried out the equipment planning and scheduling, coordinated the rigging, and ensured successful show calling for the live performances.
Volker Ruf, the head of our training department, organized the apprentice project, while the festival organiser was very open to our venture right from the very beginning and supported our apprentices in widening the scope of their personal experience.
